Convenience Store Necessities During the Holiday Season

In all of the chaos and hub-bub of getting ready to travel during the holiday season, it’s easy for people to forget basic necessities. And where is the easiest place to go when you forget something like a toothbrush? Most people don’t want to brave the grocery stores or large retail stores because of the madness of the holiday shopping crowds, so they head to their local convenience stores for the items they forgot. If you’re a convenience store owner, don’t forget to stock up on items like toothbrushes, toothpaste, small bottles of mouthwash and small bottles of shampoo and conditioner!

Another thing to consider is this time of year is cold and flu season. So other items that are good to stock are cough drops, cold medicine, tissues and various types of juice in bottles of all sizes. Some people swear by vitamin C to help them kick a cold, so be sure there is plenty of orange juice in your refrigerated section.

If your store is large and busy enough, other items to stock up are holiday decorations. Christmas and Hanukkah are the two biggest holidays this time of year. Depending on the demographic that lives in your area, you might consider stocking a few Kwanzaa decorations too.

When someone is doing their holiday shopping, it’s easy to forget wrapping supplies like tape, scissors, gift tags and even gift wrap, boxes or bags. Again, most people don’t want to go back out and brave the crowds of holiday shoppers at the big stores. So some might turn to their local convenience store. Consider stocking up on these sorts of things to make your customers’ lives easier (and hopefully make a profit for yourself too!).

Holidays are also the time of year when people throw parties and have relatives over to visit. If someone is making a dish like pumpkin pie, stuffing or, really, anything else, they might forget a key ingredient like sugar, flour, vegetable oil or milk. Again, people don’t want to deal with the holiday crowds if they just need a carton of milk or some sugar. Stocking up on these basic ingredients is also a good idea for the convenience of your customers.

If you take the time to think over what you stock in your store and try to get the items you think your customers will need the most this holiday season, it’s safe to assume the customers will remember your store as the one that has “everything.” This could encourage them to keep coming back, even after the holidays are over.

Dave’s Warehouse has all the holiday convenience store necessities your store will need this holiday season. Visit our Google+ page for more information!

How Convenient is Your Convenience Store?

“Convenience” is defined by Merriam-Webster as “a quality or situation that makes something easy or useful for someone by reducing the amount of work or time required to do something.” As a North Carolina convenience store owner, you should read that carefully and think for a moment. Your main goal, as a North Carolina convenience store owner, should be to make things very easy and convenient for your customers.

Location, Location, Location
Some of our North Carolina convenience store owners have an ideal location that, by default, makes them more convenient. Some of them are on a major road, off a highway or at a popular intersection. Other North Carolina convenience store owners are not in a convenient location.  Maybe you're attached to an existing gas station or are just in a desolate area.

Being More Convenient
If you're not in a convenient location in North Carolina, what do you do to make yourself more convenient? Do you have accessible hours? Complete an inventory of your products. Do you have the essentials to make your convenience store useful for customers? If your store is poorly laid out, it may be time for an upgrade. If people have to spend more time in a poorly laid out store, they may look elsewhere.

Distributing Service
How can we be more convenient for you? As a North Carolina convenience store owner, you probably have a lot to think about. We can make things more convenient by having all your supplies delivered right to your door. We provide a lot of options for shipping and for products. Whatever you need, we're in the business of making your life easier. Contact us so we can make your life more convenient.

Happy Thanksgiving from Dave’s Warehouse!

Dave’s Warehouse specializes in convenience store distribution. NC is just one of the states we proudly serve, and we hope our fellow NC residents have a very happy and satisfying Turkey Day! And no matter where your travels take you, remember that if you forgot anything at home, you can always visit a convenience store and probably can find what you need – especially if it is one of the stores we provide convenience store distribution services to!

One of our favorite Thanksgiving traditions is sitting in the living room and watching the greatest sport in the United States: football! Even though our beloved NC Panthers won’t be playing on Thanksgiving Day, we will still be sitting around the television in NC and cheering on another team. (But don’t worry – that’s only temporary until the next time the NC Panthers play!) We won’t mind taking a break from being one of the best convenience store distribution companies to watch a game or two.

Another tradition we love is breaking the wishbone. Does your family take part in this tradition and, if so, what do you usually wish for? We here at Dave’s Warehouse usually wish we were one of the best NC convenience store distribution companies and, lucky for us, our wish came true awhile back!

Are you helping out in the kitchen this year? What will be on your table? A traditional Thanksgiving feast usually includes the turkey, stuffing/dressing, cranberry sauce, potatoes and plenty of fresh vegetables. Does your family eat anything different? Here’s hoping you didn’t forget an ingredient. If you did, head to an NC convenience store. Possibly, it’s one we provide convenience store distribution services to!

Soon enough, Monday will roll back around and everyone will be back at work. We are looking forward to the long holiday weekend in NC, and we will be back to our usual convenience store distribution services in no time at all!

If you want more information about our convenience store distribution services, either here in NC or nationwide, give us a call today at 877-832-5055 or contact us online, and one of our representatives will get back to you as soon as possible and answer any questions you may have about our convenience store distribution services.

Get What’s Hot for the Holidays

Christmas is coming and Hanukkah will be here in a month -- and those are only two big holidays that will be here before you know it. Are you ready for the influx of customers who will want to buy candy for gifts and for visitors? What about local businesses who might want to buy candy in bulk? Dave’s Warehouse sells these and other hot products, and we can answer any questions you may have about our candy and ordering process.

Chocolate always makes a great gift, no matter what holiday your customers celebrate. Did you know just the smell of chocolate increases theta brain waves, which helps to trigger relaxation? And did you know the word “chocolate” is actually a misnomer? It comes from the Aztec word “Xocolatl” and means “bitter water.” And the Aztec people actually used chocolate as currency! On an even brighter side, there is no known link between chocolate and acne and chocolate and cavities. And there is actually no evidence that chocolate contains caffeine, so eat it any time of day you crave it!

Considering that Americans eat between 10 and 22 pounds of candy (depending on who you ask), on average, every year, it’s no wonder chocolate and candy are some of the best holiday gifts. Dave’s Warehouse has plenty, and candy is one of our hot products this time of year. So help your customers get their phenylethylamine (a chemical contained in chocolate that has been shown to release serotonin and endorphins, which make people feel happy) flowing! Give us a call at 1-877-832-5055 and let us help you with all of your chocolate ordering needs. Or contact us online

Happy Halloween from Dave’s Warehouse

Trick or treat! It’s the most wonderful time of the year for kids and kids-at-heart! Did you know that the word “Halloween” means “hallowed evening” or “holy evening”? The holiday that we associate with all things ghoulish and spooky actually stems from the Celtic festival called “Samhain.” Samhain was celebrated to mark the end of the harvest season and the beginning of winter. Spirits and fairies were thought to be particularly active this time of year and the souls of the dead were said to have the ability to revisit their homes. People dressed in costumes to ward off those spirits and fairies, and this later evolved to what we now know as trick-or-treating.

You can thank the Irish and Scottish for bringing this fun tradition to the United States during the 19th century, and it started to be widely celebrated at the start of the 20th century. Other ways people celebrate are with bonfires, bobbing for apples and setting off fireworks. But, of course, nothing will ever match the fun and excitement of dressing up in a fun or scary costume and going from door to door, saying “Trick or treat!”

So what are you doing to prepare for Halloween this year? Are you decorating your house? Coming up with the perfect costume to win the costume contest at the office or at school? Are you planning on handing out tasty treats, or are you thinking you might get more tricks than treats this year? Share your comments and stories on our Facebook or Twitter pages!

Of course, Dave’s Warehouse can help you get your treats ready. With everything from bulk candy to Mentos to Tic-Tacs, you’ll be able to find something for everyone’s sweet tooth. Give us a call today at 1-877-832-5055 or contact us online.

Getting your Product on Convenience Store Shelves

So, you have a product that you know would be perfect for convenience store shelves. But, how do you get it there? You start small. Work with a few local stores, and work your way up. In this blog, we're going to expand on this and give some advice on how to get your product into convenience stores. It's not necessarily going to be easy, but when you know the right way to go about things, you have a better chance of things working out in your factor.

Desirable Product
Is your product something that people are going to need? If it is, then you're set. If people don't view it that way, then you need to find a way to make people need your product. You have to showcase why it's useful and valuable. Show people the benefits and how it will help their everyday lives. When convenience store owners are looking at new products to add to their stores, they will want products that are in demand.

Start Small
Like we mentioned before, start small. Test your product on a few local stores and then grow your business. You'll want to make sure it's a product that goes over well in your particular area. Theoretically, you should know the local clientele better than anyone else. If it goes over in your local area, it may be a hit. If it's not, then you'll know how you need to revamp your product moving forward.

Get Yourself Out There
When you're trying to market a new product, you have to be proactive. You'll also need a way to get your product into stores. That's where we come in. As one of the largest distribution centers in North Carolina, we can help you get your product from here to there. We can help your product get in front of the right eyes, and get your product out there. You never know. You may get routine orders!

Are you ready to get started? If you're ready to get your products in convenience stores, give us a call today at 877-832-5055 or contact us online.
